EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is an advanced psychotherapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences. It recommended by the UK’s National Institute of Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
EMDR therapy shows that the mind can in fact heal from psychological trauma much as the body recovers from physical trauma. EMDR can also be used to overcome low self esteem, anxiety, reoccurring depression and other conditions by processing memories that have contributed to the negative sense of self you have today.

Occupational Therapy can help you manage your life and mental wellness in a variety of ways. You do not need to be “unwell” to benefit. A lot of the work we undertake is to provide you with the skills to ensure you stay mentally well at challenging points in your life.

Changes in life can challenge who you feel your are and should be as a person. Occupational Therapy can help you to manage these changes and adapt to new identities and have a meaningful and fulfilling life.

Identity – Who am I?
If you feel you are not able to be yourself, or find it challenging to feel okay around other people; then Occupational Therapy can work with you to establish your sense of identity and be proud of who you are. This may be through working on the following topics:
- Self Esteem
- Relationship difficulties
Regardless of whether you have a diagnosis or not, an Occupational Therapist can work with you to feel fulfilled in all areas of your life. We work with the person, not the diagnosis. If you do have a diagnosis and you feel this is impacting your identity as a person, or impacting you having a meaningful life then please get in contact.
